Thousand Island Sandwiches

INGREDIENTS

  • Bread loaves (preferably white bread)
  • Thousand island sauce (can be bought from local grocery store)
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 2 Medium sized onions
  • 2 Medium sized tomatoes
  • 1 Large cucumber
  • Corn kernels (1 cup)
  • Cottage cheese (50 grams)
  • Black Pepper powder (half teaspoon)
  • Table salt (half teaspoon)
  • Chili flakes (1 sachet)
  • Oregano (half teaspoon)
RECIPE

  1. Take the corn kernels and boil them for two minutes in a microwave safe dish.
  2. Transfer the boiled corn into a bowl and add finely chopped paneer cubes into it. Now add black pepper and salt. Give it a stir. The salad is ready.
  3. Thinly slice the onions, tomatoes and cucumber in a plate.
  4. To begin assembly, take two loaves of bread and remove the sides. Dry roast them over a nonstick tawa or grill.
  5. Take the bread loaves and add a spoon of ketchup and thousand island sauce on it. Spread it evenly. 
  6. Now take a spoon of salad and place it on a loaf. Add the sliced vegetables on top of it. Sprinkle oregano leaves and chili flakes on top of it.
  7. Assemble the loaves together. Your sandwich is ready to be munched away!

OPTIONAL SUGGESTIONS

  • You can add a variety of vegetables like cabbage, red cabbage, bell peppers, carrots etc.
  • You can add chopped olives or jalapenos in the corn salad.
  • You can use brown bread or Atta bread also.
